Gallery 210: Thursday, 24 January 2008
Gallery 210 at the University of Missouri – St. Louis presents:
Archie Scott Gobber: Archie Scott Gobber is Trustworthy
Thursday, January 24th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Artist's Lecture: 6:30pm
The exhibit will feature a series of paintings by Kansas City, Mo., artist Archie Scott Gobber. Known for his wry political commentary, Gobber recontextualizes standard catch phrases, quotes, soundbites and slogans from popular culture, political campaigns and mass media. The preeminence of words and virtual abandonment of representational imagery gives his current paintings a heightened sense of gravity and places his work in the area of conceptual art.
For more information or directions we can be contacted at 314.516.5976 or gallery@jinx.umsl.edu. We also offer docent tours on request, please call ahead of time to make an appointment for your group.
