SLUMA: Friday, 11 January 2008

PLEASE JOIN US THIS EVENING, Friday, January 11, at 5:00 p.m. at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art for the opening reception of

R E S I L I E N C E : The Sculpture of Philip Hitchcock

Philip Hitchcock, a native of St. Louis, has been a sculptor for more than twenty years. Specializing in lifecasting techniques, his sculpture demonstrates a photo realistic depiction of the human form, but its portrayal is always heroic. While the sculptures celebrate ideal form, they also provoke questions about standards of appropriate representation of the nude. Featured in this exhibit is the museum's latest acquisition, "Christ Embracing the Cross."

RESILIENCE: The Sculpture of Philip Hitchcock is on view through
February15, 2008.

The Saint Louis University Museum of Art is located at 3663 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108. Museum hours are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. For more information call (314) 977-2666.
