Jessica Kiel-Wornson: Saudade

OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, May 14, 2009, 6pm-9pm
(exhibit on view through June 13, 2009)

According to musician, Nick Cave, the Portuguese word, saudade translates as, “inexplicable longing, an unnamed and enigmatic yearning of the soul, and it is this feeling that lives in the realms of the imagination and inspiration.” This feeling and these realms to which he refers, are the origins of Jessica's installation. People are made up of thousands of tiny moments, forgotten pieces of the world that reside within them. Jessica's work seeks out these pieces, and explore the space in which they merge.
