Gallery 210: Thjursday, 7 February 2008

You are invited to Gallery 210's opening reception for Urgent Shelter. This exhibition is the first in a series of future programs to address issues of socially responsible design. "Urgent Shelter" features structures designed by artists and designers for persons who are homeless or have been displaced by war or natural disaster. The featured artists and designers are Global Village Shelters, Electroland, Michael Rakowitz and Mad Housers

In addition to the exhibition the Gallery 210, in collaboration with Peter and Paul Community Service, we will present a series of monthly programs that address the concerns and issues faced by the homeless in St. Louis. The program will include in February a panel discussion on the concerns of the homeless and the available social services. The five artists of Peter and Paul Community Service Art Collative will also speak on the intersections between art, society and recovery.

The exhibit will be on display from February 7th - May 31st with an opening reception Thursday night from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. There will be an artist panel discussion at 5:30pm. Please note that the panel discussion time is an hour earlier than our normal lectures.

All Gallery 210 events are free and open to the public. Public parking for Gallery 210 is available at the South Millennium Parking Garage on the east side of East Drive on the UM-St. Louis Campus. Handicapped parking is available behind Gallery 210.
