Isolation Room/Gallery Kit is pleased to present an installation by late artist Joe Flunker (Nov 26, 1982 - May 25, 2014). A large series of small but unique glass pieces fill the space, dripping from the ceiling inside the 9 x 9 foot cube. An experimental multiples series, this glass work was an extension of Flunker’s goblet work, utilizing a tiny spiral motif with simplistic and strategic color play. His self-taught torch skills were supplemented by hot glass studies at SIUE and the Cesare Toffolo workshop at Pittsburgh Glass Center. This exhibition is a testament to Flunker’s dedication to his craft and embodies the revised mission behind Isolation Room/Gallery Kit. As we have cut back on regular exhibitions at home to focus on our international projects, we have been looking only for those works that provide meaningful narrative for the box on Dewey Avenue.
