Duane Reed Gallery: Friday, 23 May 2014
EVA ISAKSEN
MAY 23rd through June 28th
Opening Reception May 23rd from 5-8 p.m.
Eva Isaksen’s intricate artworks are created through an equally intricate process combining collage, printmaking, and painting techniques. Using items from her garden, Isaksen creates monoprints on fiber paper, which are layered with an acrylic medium, leaving visible only what has been printed. Each artwork consists of numerous layers of monoprints, creating one cohesive composition full of color and depth. Material and environment dialogue within her vision as organic forms, seasons, cycles, growth, and regeneration transform into order, repetition, and rhythm. Her art-making process of print, resist, and reduction further resembles the growth and cyclic changes in nature.
