On March 7, 2014, the new photography exhibition Speak to Me: Imagining the Modern Muse celebrates its opening at Blank Space, 2847 Cherokee (Cherokee and Nebraska) from 6-9pm. The exhibition will be on view from March 7 through April 7, 2014, and is free.

Dave Moore has envisioned the nine classical muses of Greek mythology as embodied by contemporary artisans and performers. In this installation of new portrait photography, models serve as both muse and maker, striving to perfect the art that their muse inspires. Through the Speak to Me series, Moore encourages viewers to think about where their own inspiration comes from and consider the muses that might be found in those who surround us every day.

Models include two librarians, a Cherokee street florist, a local musician, a gospel singer, hip-hop dance instructor, and more embodying Euterpe, Terpsichore, Erato, Calliope, and the other muses. These vibrant color photographs capture both the essence of their subjects’ artistic spirit, and the passion for their craft that drives them every day.
