Bonsack Gallery: Friday, 28 February 2014
The John Burroughs School fine arts faculty will exhibit its works in a mixed media show in the Bonsack Gallery from February 7 through April 2, 2014. All are invited to a reception hosted by the artists from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Friday, February 28.
• Donya Allison will exhibit a series of recent black and white acrylic wash drawings created en plein air at farms in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri.
• Andrew Denney will exhibit vessels and for the first time in 14 years, functional pottery forms. Denney’s work is a celebration of issues specific to the ritual vessel. The prototypes contain important concepts: culture, religion and homage to the past.
• Howard Jones will show some recent objects that include tools and footwear. Many of the pieces were included in Jones’ one-person show at SOHA Gallery in January.
• Anne Martin will exhibit wash drawings as part of a continuing study of aspects of poultry keeping. She will also show several glass pieces, which are examples of warm glass working.
• Andrew Newman will exhibit a series of environmental portraits. The photographs of friends, family and colleagues were shot in locations that are meaningful to his subjects.
Regular gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays.
