Mad Art: Friday, 5 August 2011
Mad Art Gallery proudly presents Past/Passed by Robots, an exhibit by Keith Buchholz and Jeffrey Sass. This exhibit opens on Friday, August 5, 2011, with a free opening reception from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. This exhibit continues through Saturday, August 27, 2011. Music by DJ Rob Levy. Prizes for those who attend the opening in a robot costume.
This exhibit examines the year long exploration/collaboration by artists Keith Buchholz and Jeffrey Sass. Over the past year, Buchholz and Sass have developed a travelogue using a small toy robot's journey of discovery on Route 66 as metaphor for the homogenization of the American cultural, historical, and mental landscape. The works are multi media, ranging from painting and collage to boxworks and sculpture, to create works that both reflect on and develop an alternate history of the fabled road.
