Third Friday Free Party at Third Degree Glass Factory: Opera, Maple Jam rock 'n' blues, hot art, cool entertainment.
Glassblowing demonstrations begin at 6 p.m. Watch glass artists create beauty from molten glass. Drink of the Month: Sangria. Art Lotto...Buy a drink, get a ticket. Tickets drawn at the top of the hour for selected glass pieces created by Third Degree artists. You win, you take it home.
6:45 pm. Opera! Union Avenue Opera performers come to Third Degree to
present a few fave selections from Turandot and UAO's upcoming season.
8 pm. Maple Jam. Ohhh Yeah! St. Louis’ own acoustic rock and blues band serves up a hot and tasty mix of upbeat cover and original tunes. No cover charge...ever.
Gallery Opening: On view through August 16
1. Riffing on Dance: David Lancaster. Lancaster presents his newest-never-seen-before body of work. A powerful and highly expressive series of gum prints of dancers from Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) and abstracted, multimedia sculptures based on the photographs.
2. Form & Function: Addison Hanna and Willie Haynes. Hanna and Haynes, both in the glass program at Emporia State University, KS, team up to show a variety of glass working styles with the focus on functional
pieces that have interesting form.
8:45 pm. Fiery Theatrics with Fire Technicians Performance Troupe. See them spin it, breathe it, juggle it, and hoop it. After the sun goes down.
