Atrium Gallery: Friday, 20 October 2006

Double Exhibition: Roseman, Professor, and Thach, Former Student

"Pictures of Things" and "Out of the Darkness"

Opening Reception, Friday, October 20, 6-8 p.m.

Please join us for the opening of companion solo exhibitions by Harry Roseman and Elizabeth Thach. Nationally known artist, Harry Roseman will be featured with a photography exhibition, "Pictures of Things," presenting work from several series - genre clips of mundane subjects from Americana. He is from New York and is currently a Professor at Vassar College. His work has been collected by numerous museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Menil Collection, Houston. This is Roseman's first solo exhibition in St. Louis.

Also shown will be an exhibition by Elizabeth Thach, "Out of the Darkness," oil paintings from her "Copenhagen Series." Thach lived in Denmark last year and is interested in showing the importance in the Danish culture of the presence of light as contrasted with the ominous darkness of the environment. Her subjects involve depictions
of captivating unpeopled, urban scenes. Thach received her B.A. degree in painting at Vassar College, where she studied under Harry Roseman.

Both exhibitions open with a reception for the artists, Friday, October 20th, from 6-8 p.m., and will continue through November 26th.
