The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice and the Environment 1965—2005
The Most Highly recognized, controversial and famous Posters of the last Forty Years.
Curated by Elizabeth Resnick (Sept. 15—Oct. 21), Washington University’s Des Lee Gallery presents a retrospective of forty years of international socio-political posters. Themes include dissent, liberation, racism, sexism, human rights, civil rights, environmental and health concerns, AIDS, war, literacy and tolerance—collectively providing a window to an age of great change. Focusing on issues of our turbulent times, these 121 posters endeavor to show the most political and aesthetic concerns of many cultures in a single exhibition.
