Bruno David: Friday, 13 October 2006

Bruno David Gallery would like to invite you to attend the opening reception for a preview of the exhibition “Magasin” by Daniel Raedeke on Friday October 13 from 6 to 9 pm. The exhibition remains on view through November 11, 2006.

Magasin is the first solo exhibition in St. Louis for Mr. Raedeke since his well-received Always Almost New at Laumeier Sculpture Park in 2004. Raedeke will also be one of five artists included in PERSONAL LOGICS/approaches to the abstract at the White Flag Projects in St. Louis.

Raedeke's work explores the synergy between contemporary art and commercial culture. Combining his remarkable range of skills in painting, design, animation and fabrication, Raedeke painstakingly creates handmade objects from his digital sources. In the latest incarnation of his designs, Raedeke introduces new patterns and textures influenced by natural forms. Raedeke works in a wide array of formats, resulting in a colorful showroom of images and objects realized in both paint and porcelain. Raedeke's tongue-in-cheek slogan is, "painting a better future for you," and Magasin is a wonderfully inventive continuation of his investigations into the ever-expanding possibilities of painting.

Daniel Raedeke lives and works in St. Louis. He received his MFA from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville in 2000. Raedeke has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Chicago and St. Louis.

Ken Worley is showing recent work in the Project Room.

The gallery is located at 3721 Washington Boulevard, in the heart of the Grand Center arts district, directly opposite The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and in close proximity to the Sheldon Memorial Art Galleries, The Fox Theatre, and Powell Symphony Hall. The gallery is open free to the public and the hours are 10 AM to 5 PM Wednesday - Saturday, and by appointment.
