Framations: Friday, 27 November 2015

  Photograph by Ron Edwards

Framations Art Gallery is pleased to announce the Opening Reception for two new exhibits. The exhibit in the Main Gallery will be Monochrome II, focusing on values and contrast in artwork with a limited color scheme. This exhibit was an open call for artwork inviting artists to explore the theme. The exhibit will begin with an Opening Reception on Friday, November 27 from 6-8pm and will continue through January 7.

During this time, Framations is also offering a Food Drive to benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank and is also a collection site for Toys for Tots.  Visitors bringing items for either collection drive will receive 15% off their total purchase.

In Gallery Two during this time will be an exhibit of Photography by Ron Edwards. A life long teacher and nature lover, catalogs what Americana nature provides, and what man has built along the way. Photographing nature and focusing on the simple pleasures, such as the ridges and details of wing feathers and the natural landing pads of butterflies and bees, Edwards shows the world his view from behind his lens: simple and pure.  This perspective most likely comes from over 40 years of teaching children and its impact on his life.

Each of these exhibits will be on display November 27 - January 7. The Opening Reception on Novermber 27 is free and open to the public.

Duane Reed Gallery: Friday, 18 December 2015

CeramATTACK
Group Invitational
December 18th − February 13th
Opening Reception Friday, December 18th from 5-8 pm
Calvin Ma, Jonathan Mess, Kevin Snipes, Lauren Gallaspy, Nathan Prouty, Peter Johnson
Peter Pincus, Valerie Zimany

Duane Reed Gallery invites you to CeramATTACK, a ceramic invitational exhibition that boasts trending innovations in contemporary ceramics. Exhibition opens Friday, December 18th with a reception that evening 5-8pm. The exhibition will run through February 13th.

With motivations beyond pure form and function, the selected artists take ceramics into an entirely new realm, fusing contemporary aesthetics with a traditional art form. The clay bodies act more as canvases for further creative exploration through a multidisciplinary approach. This new take is evident in the works of Kevin Snipes whose structures are complimented by his whimsical street art influenced figurative drawings, or Jonathan Mess who reclaims discarded and forgotten materials into formations that reference maps and natural geographical formations.

Challenging the traditional and established view of ceramics, CeramATTACK offers a collection of works that allow the viewer to explore both narrative and form in a myriad of imaginative and unconventional approaches that both provoke and inspire.

Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10-5pm.
