Donald Judd: The
Multicolored Works Opening Reception
Friday, May
10; 5–8 p.m.; Free & Open to the public; Inside the Pulitzer galleries
Celebrate the opening of Donald Judd: The Multicolored Works at
The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts. This is the first exhibition devoted exclusively to
Judd’s multicolored works, and is curated by Marianne Stockebrand, former
director of the Chinati Foundation. The exhibition features an extraordinary
group of objects created by Judd between 1984 and 1992 that are characterized
by his ever-evolving engagement with color. The exhibition gathers together
more than 50 works from private and public collections across the United States
and Europe.
The opening
celebration will feature the music of Highlands Scottish bag piper Matt
Pantaleoni, who will perform periodically during the evening in homage to
Donald Judd’s affection for pibroch, a
classical bag piping genre that evokes the simplified rhythm and pattern of Judd’s
work. The exhibition runs through January
4, 2014.
