White Flag Projects: Saturday, 16 March 2013
March 16 – April 27, 2013
Opening reception Saturday evening, March 16, 6-8 PM
White Flag Projects is pleased to present a one-person exhibition by Tony Matelli. The exhibition will open with a public reception Saturday evening, March 16, from 6 to 8 PM, and will remain on view through April 27, 2013.
Tony Matelli invests his art with layers of familiarity and discomfort, combining remarkable verisimilitude with a darkly comic approach to the function of his subjects within the specific context of the gallery. Matelli's work frequently suspends time and disbelief, pausing images both unlikely and mundane in moments of peculiar aesthetic tension.
White Flag Library is an ancillary exhibition program of White Flag Projects:
White Flag Projects is pleased to present an exhibition of recent work by Davina Semo. The exhibition will open with a free public reception Saturday evening, March 16, from 6-8 PM.
Davina Semo's suggestive titles and post-industrial approach to manufacture simultaneously reveal an emphasis on physical mass and an ironic sensitivity to concept, placing her work within a distinctively charged formal territory. Semo's knowing use of chains, concrete, safety glass, and neon spray paint that comprise her materials infuse her art with gravity and wit, rendering unexpected warmth from her favored materials.
