S. Carmody Photography: Friday,13 July 2012
This Friday from 6-11PM, join us for the opening reception of "Losing Reality" during the Maplewood "Let Them Eat Art Festival."
Ellen Jantzen's images explore alternate states of reality and the nature of personal loss. The series was inspired by experiences caring for an aged parent with Alzheimer's. "I became acutely aware of not only the aging process, but also the vagaries of memory and the sense of loss that permeated our lives here." Her series depicts how a person adapts to losses and how the body, mind and spirit are absorbed and transformed by that loss.
The opening will concur with the Let Them Eat Art Festival, Maplewood's tribute to Bastille Day. The event will feature live music and art demonstrations, performance artists, dog costume contest and more.
