Intertwined Exhibition Series
Opening Reception: Sunday, September 4, 1pm–3pm
Exhibition On View: September 4–October 29, 2011

The St. Louis Artists’ Guild presents Intertwined, a new exhibition series consisting of two parts; one dedicated to fiber artists, another to SLAG members. The opening reception for this exhibition series is Sunday, September 4, from 1pm to 3pm. The exhibitions will be on view from September 4, 2011 to October 28, 2011 during regular gallery hours (Tuesday–Sunday, 12pm–4pm).

One half of Intertwined is dedicated to fiber artists, “intertwined” by their shared interest in using fabrics as an expressive medium. The fiber-arts portion of Intertwined is presented in conjunction with of Innovations in Textiles 2011, a biennial collaborative event in the St. Louis region that investigates the state of contemporary textile arts.
  • Convergence: New Works by Carlie Trosclair consists of a series of immersive, fabric-based installations that explore the ways the physical body experiences and interacts with spaces.
  • Quilted Equations, a solo exhibition by Dawn Ottensmeier, will feature textile constructions reflecting on memory, time, and the agricultural landscape of Ottensmeier’s childhood.
The other half of Intertwined features work created by members of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild. The artists in this half of the exhibition series are “intertwined” by their shared membership and investment in the St. Louis Artists’ Guild.
  • Members’ Gallery: Work created by the St. Louis Artists’ Guild’s Artisans Section. The Artisans Section is a group dedicated to the specialty trades, including (but not limited to): sculpture, mural-painting, art restoration, ceramics, glass working and wood working.
  • Among Friends, a non-juried, salon-style exhibition of artwork created by St. Louis Artists’ Guild members
