Jacovy Arts Center: Friday, 19 November 2010
The Jacoby Arts Center presents Fact and Fiction: The State of Contemporary Photography, a national juried exhibit of contemporary photographs in its gallery from November 16 through January 9, 2011. An opening reception will be held Friday, November 19, 5 – 8 pm, with an awards presentation at 6:30 pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 am-5 pm, Saturday, 10 am-4 pm, Sunday, noon-4 pm, and the gallery is closed Monday.Juror Steven Brown, Head of the Photography Area for the Department of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, selected the work of sixteen artists. These artists were chosen from applicants nationwide to represent the contemporary photographer's relationship with meaning through manipulation of subject, object, and medium. A talk with the juror is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 7 pm, in the gallery.
Exhibiting photographers include Bob Ahrens, Randy Anderson, Emily Benner, Jerry Benner, Andrew Bievenue, Roger Boulay, Mike Callaghan, Christ Gearhart Denny, Andrew Dobson, Cary Horton, Fiona McLaren, Stephen Oertle, Pat Quinn, Danne Pike Rhaesa, Adam West and Rachael Wilbur.
