Philip Slein Gallery: Thursday, 16 Thursday 2010

The Philip Slein Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition "Western Expansion" curated by Justin Giarla, owner of the San Francisco's White Walls and Shooting Gallery. The exhibition will showcase the kind of work the west coast is famous for--lowbrow--with its influences of pop art, street art, outsider art, punk rock, comic books, the surfboard, skateboard, and hot rod subcultures. Artist exhibited will include Shepard Fairey, Blek Le Rat, Greg Gossel, and Van Arno, among others.

In the spirit of new discovery and ground-breaking creativity in arts we look West to find inspiration and new ideas, new territories. "Western Expansion" represents a new vanguard of artists and forward-thinking minds that pushes the boundaries of traditional visual arts and explores new directions within modern art era mediums and techniques.

Along with "Westward Expansion" the Philip Slein Gallery will be opening the exhibition "30/30: Small Scale Work by 30 Artists." A selection of gallery favorites and new fresh faces.

Reception: Thursday, September 16th, 2010, 6-8 pm runs through October 30th
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10am-5pm
