Negotiate/Collaborate
a collaborative installation by Kim Wardenburg
Opening Reception (also a part of the St. Louis Contemporary Art Museum's Open Studio Tour):
10 am - 4 pm, Saturday, July 24, 2010
The establishment of community is almost always thought of in positive terms, but borders, parameters, and common characteristics that define a community can also create divisions within or around it. Negotiate/Collaborate explores the aesthetic significance of the act of breaking as both a formative and destructive act within the context of covenant. How is it specifically relevant to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over land ownership in Jerusalem and more broadly, how can it affect our understanding of human bonds and communities?
