SLU Museum of Art: Friday, 16 June 2010

Urban Wanderers
JULY 16 - AUG. 29
OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY, JULY 16, 6 P.M.

Actress Loretta Swit, formerly of the hit television series, M*A*S*H* will highlight the opening reception for Urban Wanderers. The exhibition will open on Friday, July 16 at 6 p.m. at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art. The exhibition concludes on Sunday, August 29.

A rescued stray from Stray Rescue of St. Louis will serve as the inspiration for over 40 area artists as they have painted, photographed, illustrated and sculpted their interpretation of an abandoned or abused dog or cat that has been given a second chance thanks to the efforts of Stray Rescue. Ms. Swit will have several of her paintings displayed in the exhibition.

In addition to the brushes, pencils, and clay used by participating artists, the rescued dogs and cats of Stray Rescue will use their paws, tails, and noses to create “personalized” works of art that will also be displayed and available for online silent auction.

The art displayed in the exhibition is available for silent auction by visiting http://www.blacktie-stlouis.com/auctions. Bidding will begin on Friday, July 16 at 4:59 p.m. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
