Schmitt Art Center: Thursday, 9 July 2009
Please join us for a reception to celebrate the work of Jeff Sippel, Jenny Boudreault, and Joe Chesla. Thursday, July 9, 2009, 6 8 p.m.
“Action Reaction,” features Jeff Sippel. Sippels’s abstract prints are extremely expressive in color and line.
The second exhibition, “Letting go a breath I didn’t know I was
holding,” features artwork by Joe Chesla, who filled over 3,000 plastic bags with a mixture of porcelain and algae and installed them directly on the Reiners Gallery windows. The way that light and heat reach the bags will influence the
algae’s growth and determine the color and pattern of the installation.
In the Schmidt and Cox Galleries, “Awakenings,” features Jenny Boudreault, who creates portraits of everyday people. She
uses watercolor or oil paint on board, which often allows the wood grain to show through and provide texture and tone to the skin.
The exhibition continues through August 22.
SUMMER HOURS Tuesday Friday, 11 a.m. 5 p.m., Thursday, 11 a.m. 8 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. 2 p.m., CLOSED Friday, July 3, Saturday, July 4
