Jennifer Flores: Relative Toxicity

Opening Reception: Friday May 8, 2009 6pm 10pm
May 8 June 6, 2009
GALLERY HOURS Fri., Sat., Noon 5pm or by appointment

Jennifer Flores aims to illustrate the modern problem of industrial pollution and its effect on the environment and community. She uses images of landscapes and dwellings juxtaposed with elevations of factories in order to illuminate the environmental and biological contamination from industrialized factories. The space of home and factory are
melded together in both her paintings and installations. Flores uses found objects, signs, and text from industrialized sites to allude to the commonality and presence of contaminants in our daily lives.

Flores’ synthesis of different mediums addresses the environmental and biological problems facing our communities. Many of her pieces possess a lyrical quality while depicting these beautiful yet harmful structures that destroy the serene environment in which they are
contained.
