Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Art Gallery: Thursday-Friday, 11March 2009
On March 11, 2009, Atlanta's Art House Co-op Gallery will locally exhibit The Sketchbook Project at Soulard Art Market from 6:30 until 10 p.m. The St. Louis exhibition will be the sixth stop of a nine-location tour. The full tour includes the cities of Atlanta, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, and Brooklyn. The Sketchbook Project includes 2,785 participants from the U.S. as well as 44 other countries, 72 of the participating artists are from Missouri.
Each participant was given a 3½x5½ in. Moleskine® sketchbook and the theme "everyone we know." The visual interpretation of that theme, as well as visual style and media was left up to the individual artist.
The Sketchbook Project was open to all applicants on a first come first serve basis at Art House Co-op's website, www.arthousecoop.com, where artists can create profiles, share portfolio images, and interact with each other, essentially forming a social networking site, as well as a collective of artists from various nationalities, ideologies, styles, and artistic backgrounds.
