Atrium Gallery: Friday, 20 March 2009
Jeanine Coupe Ryding "Second Nature"
March 20 - May 10
Opening Reception, Friday, March 20, 6-8 p.m.
Atrium Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Jeanine Coupe Ryding. "Second Nature," a collection of recent woodcut prints will open Friday, March 20 and will run through May 10. Ryding is known for her innovative technique, using the woodcut process to produce deeply textured, tactile prints on delicate handmade paper. Her imagery follows a combination of abstraction, fantasy, and representation. This series alludes to the glories of nature in both garden and atmospheric references. The palette ranges from intense hues to very delicate shades and the markings bring forth the reference to cutting on the woodblock.
Also showing on the "Salon" level will be "Willem de Looper - In Memoriam" an exhibition of selected works honoring Atrium's long time artist who passed away January 30, 2009. This exhibition will include large and small scale paintings and drawings representing the last twenty years of his work, and will also continue through May 10th.
Gallery Hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-4 and Tuesday by appointment.
