“Sixteen Versions of Bruges” at Gateway Gallery: Friday March 13, 6-9 pm
Sixteen resident artists at Gateway Gallery have each interpreted one view of Bruges, Belgium with their own unique vision in mediums that run from painting and photography to wood and ceramics. The artworks will be scattered throughout the gallery and the public is invited to identify the work that corresponds to each artist.
Participating artists include: Michael Anderson,Vic Mastis, Vic Barr, Greg Matchick, Thom Buttner, Garry McMichael, Ron Flier, Sheldon Johnson, Janet Fons, Janice Schoultz Mudd, Annie Smith Piffel, Catherine Honse, Michele Wells, Heather Haymart, Julie Wiegand, and D.A. Williams.
Opening concurrently in the featured artist gallery space is the work of:
John Barhydt - photographer
“The darkroom (wet or digital) provides me with a way to express the moment and to create images that celebrate the boldness of color and light that nature offers us everyday.”
Scott Hodgdon – painter and illustrator
The use of dramatic color in his newer paintings set them apart from his illustrations. They reflect the artist’s desire to paint subjects based on nature while recalling memories of his early years in rural Maine and New England.
Hours: Wed. 11-6, Thurs. 11-6, Fri. 11-7, Sat. 11-6, Sun 10-5 Closed Mondays & Tuesdays. These shows will run from March 3 through April 3, 2009.
