Des Lee Gallery: Friday, 15 February 2008
WILDWOOD PRESS presents Casey Rae | Water
at Des Lee Gallery
Artist Reception Friday February 15, 2008, 6-9pm
February 1 thru March 2, 2008, Tuesday-Sunday 1-4pm
In her series Water, Casey Rae captures the sweeping horizon lines of the icescapes of the Great Lakes in winter. Each print is a large scale giclee image, formatted to capture the visceral and haunting first impressions of the vastness of these bodies of water in their winter isolation. They speak to the power of nature, the power of the camera.
Casey Rae is a native St. Louisan. Her earlier photographic work includes a more ephemeral American landscape, isolating the surfaces and colors—fleeting glimpses of carnival lights, the slick surfaces and vibrant colors of hot cars.
