New Paintings: Jeff Aeling & Belinda Lee at Philip Slein Gallery
Friday, Nov. 16th 2007, Reception 6-9pm and runs through Nov. 10th, Tues.-Sat. 11am-4pm
Jeff Aeling's new landscape paintings combine the sense of grandeur of the past with the visual clarity of 21st Century art. Aeling says about his paintings "regardless of our awareness, we all share an intimate connection to the natural world. The processes that
shape nature also shape ourselves. I am trying to make paintings that reflect that connection."
Belinda Lee: "I paint portraits --I see myself as a visual anthropologist collecting and describing data that details a difficult, changing and complicated world." In this new body of work, Belinda carries forward the tradition of portraiture in a viable and meaningful fashion.
