Laumeier Sculpture Park: Friday, 8 June 2007

The Kranzberg Exhibition Series featuring Thad Duhigg will open Friday, June 8, 2007 with a free public reception at Laumeier Sculpture Park from 6-8 p.m. The exhibition will continue through September 2, 2007. Summer 2007 marks the fifth edition of the exhibition series that profiles local sculptors.

Assumptions Mediated is an exhibition that openly questions viewer's points-of-view and encourages dialogue about definitions of patriotism, consumption of media images of the American ideals of equality, liberty and justice as well as our collective struggle with stereotypes.

Currently professor of sculpture and the Chair of the Art and Design department at Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville, Duhigg will fill the indoor galleries at Laumeier with his bold, probing and provocative work. The exhibition includes sculpture, installations, prints and drawings. Duhigg's most recent work questions and provokes as it focus on issues of identity, race and current events.

Laumeier Sculpture Park is located at 12580 Rott Road in Sunset Hills, near Interstate 44 and Lindbergh Boulevard. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. until ½ hour past sunset. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call 314-821-1209 or visit us at www.laumeier.org.
