Craft Alliance: Friday, 16 March 2007
Please join us at Craft Alliance this Friday night, March 16, from 6-8 Pm for the opening of Silent Conversations.
Stefanie Kirkland, Juror
Art provokes conversation. There is the dialogue between artists and their work, also a dialogue between the viewer and the work. The concept for this exhibition derives from the idea of "sacra conversazione" developed during the Italian Renaissance, when two or more characters within one painting seemed to be conversing with each other. This exhibition explores the "dialogue" created as two or more objects interact in one work of art - the tension and interaction between the objects themselves as they co-exist, strengthening and completing each other.
Opening concurrently, local artist Sarah Shoot in the David and Jacqueline Charak Gallery.
