Atrium Gallery invites you to join us to celebrate the inaugural exhibition at our new gallery in The Dorchester, 665 S. Skinker Blvd. We are very pleased to present a solo show by Lesley Dill.
“Lesley Dill: Voice” will feature an extensive group of works involving the use of language intimately mingled with drawings and constructions bringing strong force to the intellectual threads of Dill's work. Her deep rooted interest in literature and connections to her New England legacy and Puritan intellectuals and their writings, mixed with later influences from figures such as Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Faulkner, and Kafka permeate her works. “Poem Dress of Circulation” is a typical expression for her, with words spilling down the delicate object including thread and chiri kozo paper.
The imagery is mostly realized in clothed figures or articles of clothing and she explains “Clothing houses the house that houses the soul.” Her expressions are deep indeed, and she speaks as most artists desire, to universal understandings. This special exhibition celebrates the Opening of the new gallery space for 33 year old Atrium Gallery and marks a new path for this St. Louis gallery as it presents works that seek to move viewers with aesthetics and message, to an enriching experience with art.
