Hoffman LaChance Contemporary: Friday, 3 May 2019

Jenna Bauer: The Respite Sequence

Opening Friday, May 3rd with a reception from 6 to 10 pm.
Through Saturday, May 25th.
Artist talk on Saturday, May 18th, at 1 pm.

"Art, in all forms, is a way to express ourselves when the words are difficult to smith.

"For the past few years, I’ve been developing a new body of work entitled The Respite Sequence.  It consists of oil paintings, and also sound and multidisciplinary installation.

"So much complexity and challenge has developed and become apparent in our world during the past five years.  As a result, much of my work, painting, teaching, curriculum development and performing, is an attempt to counter this….respite.

"The Respite Sequence is personal, but my intention is for the exhibit to be universal and provide moments of relief and reflection for the viewer.

"Truth is:  finding the right words to describe the reality of the past five years is nearly impossible so I have surrendered to visual art to express and sift through these experiences…."

Gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 3.
