SOLO EXHIBITION John K. Blair
Blues for Jim Crow
6-9pm

Please join for the upcoming solo exhibition Blues for Jim Crow, experimental photographer, John K. Blair, explores how historic anti-black laws have evolved into policies that define the systemic racism of today. By layering contemporary photographic portraits over and through scenes documenting violence and terror against people of color, Blair voices a very palpable fear. Questioning the direction forward, Blair's kaleidoscopic compositions, remind one of a compass seeking a metaphorical North in today's social climate. His photographic flashbacks suggest how the history of racial oppression continues to have a psychological and multi generational impact today. Many of these images are quite beautiful and all of them are powerful. However, some are terrifyingly brutal, and therefore may not be suitable for young children.

There will be light refreshments and this event is free and open to the public.
