"Fiber Focus 2015" FREE reception with juror Marci Rae McDade    THIS Saturday, October 3, 2015, 6-9 p.m.  at ART SAINT LOUIS    ______________________________________  FIBER FOCUS 2015 AUGUST 8-OCTOBER 8, 2015 We invite you to join us for a free reception-with awards announcement & a brief Juror's Gallery Talk with Marci Rae McDade in attendance-HIS Saturday, October 3, 2015, 6-9 p.m.   "Fiber Focus 2015" is a juried contemporary fiber art exhibit that was open to artists residing in Missouri and the eight states that are contiguous to our border (in Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Tennessee). This exhibition is hosted by and presented at Art Saint Louis, 1223 Pine Street, St. Louis, MO 63103. 314/241-4810. The exhibit is current on view and runs through October 8, 2015. The Art Saint Louis Gallery is FREE & open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m. & Saturday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed Sundays & holidays. FREE RECEPTION THIS SATURDAY  Most of our featured artists will be joining us for this special evening, too, so we encourage you to take this opportunity to meet our wonderful juror and these talented artists and see their works in our show.   "FIBER FOCUS 2015" EXHIBITION JUROR This year's Juror is artist Marci Rae McDade, Editor of Surface Design Journal since 2012). Marci is also a mentor and instructor in the MFA Applied Craft + Design Program, cosponsored by the Oregon College of Art and Craft and the Pacific Northwest College of Art. ABOUT THE EXHIBIT & ARTISTS Seventy-nine artists from eight of the nine eligible Midwestern states submitted 200 artworks in all fiber media for jurying from which Ms. McDade had to make her selections for this exhibition. From those entries, Marci selected 50 artworks by 43 artists for the final show. The artworks that she selected for the exhibit highlight fiber art and fiber techniques in a variety of themes and media including assemblage, basketry, beadwork, ceramics, crochet, dyeing, embroidery, felting, knitting, mixed media, paper, photography, quilting, sewing/stitching, surface design, tapestry, and more.
