In the upcoming exhibit, POTENTIAL STRUCTURES, two artists take on tradition and tolerance as they explore what "building" means in contemporary cultures.  In her work, STEFANIE JACOBSON KIRKLAND, confronts neighborhood boundaries and family constructs within the context of ethnicity, religion and race.  Instead of choosing one community over another, she builds superstructures on top of and within existing expectations  Sculptor, BLANCA GUERRA, investigates the negative space of the human body as a silent stage for growth and building.  Guerra's abstract work is also architectural in nature, as it examines what might be built instead of born.  Both artists seek structures of potential as they build ideas and objects outside of more standard frameworks.
