Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design (Craft Alliance) is pleased to announce the opening reception of the 2014 Artists-in-Residence Exhibition on Friday, June 13th. Every year, several artists specializing in clay, metals, and fiber further their artistic practices in Craft Alliance's Grand Center studios. This year's residents were Hunter Creel (metals), Ed Carroll and Vita Geluniene (community activism/fiber), Jenna Jacobs (fiber), Barbara Knuth (metals), Ruth Ann Reese (clay), and Evan Wagman (clay).

Each artist brought his/her own unique vision to Craft, and the work being displayed reflects the breadth of artistic approaches in the use of craft media. From Hunter Creel's playful, colorful cartoon-inspired metal sculptures to Ruth Reese's surreal ceramics evoking mythological creatures, Ed Carroll and Vita Geluniene's community activism, and Evan Wagman's intimately-scaled, detailed ceramic sculptures, this exhibition will present a dynamic picture of what artists are doing in the field of contemporary craft.
