Koken Art Factory: Friday, 2 May 2-14
Friday, May 2nd, 6-10pm & Saturday, May 3rd, 12-5pm
In May of 2012 the STL Outsider Art Fair was held for the very first time. Located in the Koken Art Factory’s Pingle Building, it marked the beginning of an annual affair that intended to showcase local and national outsider art talents in St. Louis.
The term ‘outsider art’ was coined by Roger Cardinal in 1972 as the English translation of the French term art brut. The term art brut was first used by painter Jean Dubuffet to describe artwork done by people on the fringes of society that had no knowledge of the mainstream art world.
ADMISSION: $5 – Suggested Donation. All donations will be used to cover production expenses.
