Adam Straus, "Long Island Sound After Sunset," 2006 oil on paper
Atrium Gallery opens the
Fall Season with "From the Land," a four-person exhibition presenting a
variety of works surrounding the iconic theme of landscape. Featured
will be new pieces by national artists Suzanne Caporael, Leila Daw, Ellen Glasgow, and, for a first showing at Atrium, Adam Straus. Interpretations of images
offered up by the natural, physical surroundings have occupied artists
for centuries, whether depicting this with a representational image, or
transferring impressions to include emotional responses, or reducing to
symbols. This exhibition seeks to explore all of those and juxtapose
the variety in a complementary setting. "From the Land" will open
September 27th and run through November 16th. There will also be an Artist Talk, Saturday, September 28, 11 am with Leila Daw.
