Tappmeyer House: Friday-Saturday 1-2 March 2013
Teachers for Tappmeyer 'Exchange' Art Show Reception - March 1, 7-9 pm & March 2, 2-4 pm
The Creve Coeur Arts Commission invites the public to attend a free reception highlighting artwork from students at DeSmet Jesuit and Whitfield high schools. The Exchange Art Show Reception showcasing local talent will be held Friday, March 1, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 2, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Tappmeyer House located in Millennium Park at 2 Barnes West Drive.
This unique art exhibit is a collaboration among the Arts Commission, The Tappmeyer Foundation and art teachers from each of the participating schools. Recently, 46 high school art students from DeSmet and Whitfield were randomly paired and each brought an artwork sample to share with their
partner. Paired students had 30 minutes to view and discuss each other’s artwork and then challenged to create new artwork inspired by their partner’s work. All four artworks from each pair will be displayed together at the Tappmeyer House for public display at the reception.
The Exchange Art Show will remain after the receptions at the Tappmeyer House through Thursday, March 7. Group tours are available by appointment by calling 314-872-2570.
