Framations Art Gallery: Friday, 13 April 2011
New exhibit focuses on many facets of Spring and aims to raise funds
Solo Show and Juried exhibit open April 13 with wine tasting
Framations Art Gallery invites the public to view an exhibit inspired by the beauty and fury of Spring and the affects that comes with it.
This all-media exhibit, juried by Jerry Thomas, focuses on work following the theme “What Spring May Come?”, hinting at the idea that with living in this region of the country, the season of Spring brings with it unknown weather conditions. Artists were encouraged to explore the theme and consider nature in both its beauty in bloom and its fury in force.
Framations is dedicating this exhibit to the victims of recent tornadoes that have ravaged our area. They recognize that weather and the forces of nature something that must both be respected and feared for their impact on our lives. Framations will donate 20% of any sales from this exhibition to the American Red Cross, to help support clean up efforts as well as rebuilding in communities touched by recent tornadoes. This exhibit will be on display April 13 - May 17.
In Gallery Two, the exhibit Faces and Places: Artwork by Barb Allen, also opens on April 13. In this exhibit, Allen takes us all on a journey to meet the people who have affected her in such a way she could not help but be drawn to paint them. In some cases, it is a person she knows, in others, it is an imagined person placed in a locale she has visited. Her skill in painting is in being able to draw the viewer in to appreciate both the person who is captured but also the surroundings that make them real.
Both of these exhibits will open with a reception on April 13 from 6-8pm that is free and open to the public. Join them for a viewing of the artwork as well as to sample new wines from their wine sponsor, bakkheia.
