Craft Alliance in the Loop: Friday, 15 July 2011

Kelly Draper
Biennial Faculty Exhibition
Featuring Craft Alliance Artist Faculty Members
FREE Opening Reception on Friday, July 15, 2011, 6- 8pm

The exhibition, which runs through August 14, features work from local and regional artists who have taught classes and workshops in the studios at Craft Alliance during the past two years. This exhibition focuses on the inspiring works of our creative faculty members, showcasing their vision and expertise in their respective media. Active as teachers in the studios of Craft Alliance in the Delmar Loop and Grand Center, these artists are also an integral part of the St. Louis community and
many exhibit their work locally, nationally and internationally. They share their intense joy of creating and love of teaching art with students of all ages. Every faculty member is invested in the artistic growth of their students, willing to give the students ideas and technical information in order for them to succeed. Each faculty member hopes to spark a student’s enthusiasm for finding their voice in clay, metals, glass, weaving, surface design, drawing, painting and graphics.

Opening concurrently in the Charak Gallery is the exhibition, Visual Language, featuring the work of the late Cindy Wrobel. Cindy created an array of sculptural forms through the use of shimmering glass beads and heavy wire combined with found objects. A long-time teacher, student and artist at Craft Alliance, Cindy’s work expresses a whimsical passion for nature and culture.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Thursday, 10am – 5pm; Friday and Saturday, 10am – 6 pm, Sunday, 11am – 5pm. Closed Monday
