Roz Flax was instrumental in bringing “chalk talks” to various venues in the U.S. and abroad. Using a large easel, giant pieces of chalk, and music, Roz reached across the language barrier and spoke to audiences in countries such as Peru and Japan with themes that emphasized the goal of unity and world peace. She used multiple media and techniques to explore the intrinsic patterns in the natural world and urban settings. Her love of calligraphy and design transformed quotations of the sages, messages for social change, and her own poetry into works of art. Viewing Roz’s art in this retrospective reveals the complexity of her personal journey and the multi-dimensional role of the artist in modern times.
