ABSTRAKT: Thursday, 3 December 2009
Thomas Yanko & Eric Nichols
Exhibition Dates: December 3, 2009 through January 7, 2010
Opening Reception: Thursday, December 3, 2009 7:00 PM
ABSTRAKT Art Gallery will launch a new art exhibition featuring the work of Thomas Yanko and Eric Nichols. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition.
For Thomas Yanko painting has been a lifetime passion. His career path drew him to the more technical art of architecture. Although his career in architecture spans nearly forty years, his passion for painting has never swayed.
For Eric Nichols it is about injecting the self into the work and deviating from social expectations in the realm of art. Eric brings to his work a vocabulary of painting, drawing, metallurgy, ceramics and digital images. His most recent collection of "surrealamorphic works" focus on dimensionality and transitions. What is left are "unnatural specimens" which Nichols extrapolates from the natural realms and then manipulates through the artistic process.
The exhibit is presented in conjunction with the ABSTRAKT Art Gala. This event features the work of all artists whose work has been featured in the gallery in 2009: Paco Rosic, Kennedy Yanko, Phil Jarvis, David Langley, Jennifer Hayes, and Laura Lloyd
