Gallery Visio & Gallery 210: Thursday, 27 August 2009

Three new exhibits will open Thursday (Aug. 27) at Gallery 210 and Gallery Visio, both located on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus.

The first opening, for "Children of the Mesh," begins at 4 p.m. and runs through 7 p.m. at Gallery Visio, 170 Millennium Student Center at UMSL. The exhibit will feature silkscreen posters by John Vogl, Jennifer McKnight and Billy Baumann and Jason Teegarden-Downs. "Children of the Mesh" will be on display through Oct. 5. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Visit www.umsl.edu/~galvisio for more information.

Two additional openings will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Gallery 210 in UMSL's Telecommunity Center. The exhibits include "Exposure 12" and "Phosphorescence."

"Exposure 12" will feature paintings by Jamie Adams, Kit Keith and Bill Kreplin. The "Exposure" series is a long-running program created by the St. Louis Gallery Association, and previously presented in the Hunt Gallery at Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo. The University of Missouri-St. Louis' Gallery 210 now runs the program, and "Exposure 12" will be the sixth exhibition in the series housed at the gallery.

"Phosphorescence," a video exhibit by Anthony Discenza, is broken up into "chapters" and features an array of abstractions created by manipulating television images. At times almost painterly, the resulting images are set to an ambient electronic soundtrack.

"Exposure 12" and "Phosphorescence" will be on display through Oct. 10. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
