ArtDimensions presents 3 NEW Exhibits
Show of Love, Bad Housekeeping & New Works by Brittany Lueken
Opening Reception February 13, 2009 7:00pm-11:00pm
Exhibits continue through March 28th during gallery hours, Thurs-Sat, noon-4pm
The opening reception will feature music, live art, culinary delights from local restaurants including Joanie’s and live poetry readings. Sponsored in part by the Regional Arts Commission and Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Main Gallery: “Show of Love” Gallery Director: Gina Weaver Curator: Justin Tolentino. Work in this exhibit features multi-media works of art by more than 20 St. Louis region artists which reflects the theme of love or an interpretation thereof.
Flax Gallery, accelerating women in the arts: “Bad Housekeeping” Flax Gallery Director/Juror: Jenn Carter. Bad Housekeeping is an all media, juried exhibition of artwork, created by female artists. All work contains a household them, or incorporates found objects from around the home. The show is fun, bright, unexpected, intriguing, and often times hilarious.
Gallery 2Solo Series: “New Works by Brittany Lueken” Brittany Lueken's exhibition includes an impressive diversity in style for a body of work completed so recently, although it is obvious these are works of one mind. The lush colors coupled with intricate detail or drawing often suggest otherworldly settings. Her artworks include large, lively-colored canvases, delicate black and white drawings, and small collages using gauche, and the remnants of an Indian calendar. Especially interesting is a set of small black canvases that appear to be a collection of images from another universe. Quiet all around but massive and complex at or above the surface, Lueken's planets are even more mysterious than those beyond.
