123 Money - I heard there was something else
Artwork by Eric Gray
Presented by City Art Supply

City Art Supply's new show, 1 2 3 Money - I heard there was something else, brings together paintings, works on paper, and site specific work from Eric Gray. The title of the show refers to both the writing on one of the paintings and is a gesture toward "something else". What is the "something else" according to Gray? It could be family, a peaceful landscape, or it could be looking at the faces of businessmen from Wall Street as though they are human. The "something else" is taking a closer look. Maybe it's in the texture and the thick paint. It quite possibly is just art, as Gray's work seems very much a celebration of the act of painting, of the smudge of charcoal, of marks made and marks erased, and of the process. Half art supply store and half gallery, City Art Supply presents Gray's art in an appropriate setting with its opening Friday, February 6th.
