Gallery 210: Friday, 27 June 2008

"Contemporary Chinese Paintings from the Harbin Art School" will feature work by four artists associated with the Harbin Normal University in China. The university is known for its arts education, quality faculty and advanced facilities.

The paintings at the exhibit have been created using the Chinese style guo hua, meaning "national" or "native" painting. Guo hua involves using essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black or colored ink.

The featured artists include Wang Long, Gao Huimin, Gang Li and Lu Yu Shun.

A public reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. June 27 in Gallery 210's Gallery B. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. On view June 27 through August 9.
