CRC Hosts Sukkat Shalom National Juried Art Exhibition
The first professional, juried art exhibition to be hosted by Central Reform Congregation will open with an artists reception and gallery talk on Saturday, September 29, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
Artists of all faith traditions were asked to interpret the theme “Sukkat Shalom: A Shelter of Peace.”
Artist Ilene Berman was the juror for the show. She chose 14 works of art by10 artists from across the United States to participate in this inaugural exhibit. She selected works that showed craftsmanship, originality and unique interpretation of theme. The jury selection was "blind," meaning that the artist's name was not revealed. Ilene is a CRC member, a MFA Candidate at Southern Illinois University, and the artist who created CRC's sculpture, Tikkun. Artists from five states were juried into the show.
The show will hang at CRC until December 1 and is visible during regular business hours. All works are for sale. Central Reform Congregation is located at 5020 Waterman at the corner of Kingshighway in St. Louis City. For more information, please call Jeane Vogel, 314.991.0143 or email.
