Saturday, July 26, 2014, 4-7 p.m.
JULY 26-SEPTEMBER 11, 2014
A visual and culinary feast awaits! Art Saint Louis brings art and food together for a block party celebrating the exhibition Food, Glorious Food in the Art Saint Louis Gallery & Mississippi Mud Coffee Roasters Café at 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis.
The exhibition will be ushered in with an opening reception to whet your appetite. Join us on Saturday, July 26 from 4-7 p.m. for all the best in local food & art.
The main course, of course, is the art exhibition, but there's much more on the menu! Food trucks from Zia's, The Sweet Divine and The Bivouac Shack will roll in just for our event and offer delectables outside the Gallery while the baristas of Mississippi Mud Coffee Roasters Café will create hot and cold drinks made to order indoors.
Artists Chelsea Soronen & Rusty Conklin of Chalk Riot will contribute to the event by creating chalk artworks throughout the area before & during the afternoon & evening. Guests are invited to contribute & chalk their own designs, too. Artmart will provide some chalk, but you can also help by bringing your own! Photos by Robin Hirsch & Emily Amberger. The adjacent Kauffman Park will include live art-making, including plein air painting by Michael Anderson and Lon Brauer (artists who both have artworks featured in the exhibition), chalk artists from Chalk Riot, live music and more, plus plenty of room for picnickers. Guests are invited to join in on the live art and chalk art. We encourage you to bring your art supplies and set up an easel to paint or draw or photograph-whatever your media, you are welcome to make art during this event! Chalk will be provided by Sponsor Artmart for artists wanting to create their own chalk art. We invite guests to bring easy-to-carry portable chairs and picnic blankets, so that you can have a place to sit in the Park and enjoy food at your leisure. So, please plan accordingly.
